County of Fresno

Description

The County of Fresno is the political and administrative entity that governs many aspects of the geographic area that is Fresno County. The primary role of the County of Fresno is administration of criminal justice throughout the county, as well as governance of lands located outside of incorporated cities. The County of Fresno has a variety of departments that it uses to administer its areas of responsibility. For the purposes of this Regional ITS Architecture, the County of Fresno is the lead agency for emergency management and operations at the county level. The County also provides general roadway management and maintenance for streets and highways in the unincorporated areas of the County. The County contracts with the City of Fresno to operate and maintain traffic signal systems in the unincorporated areas of the county that are not the responsibility of Caltrans.
